Corporate Tours
AMA-USF will connect local marketing students from USF, UT and Saint Leo to Tampa’s most successful businesses, which seek to inspire and hire ambitious students. This semester, two prominent South Tampa marketing firms will open their doors to our members, followed by a social in Hyde Park. A corporate tour of Yuengling Brewing Company will give members insight into the success of a local Tampa Bay company.
Workshops
AMA-USF’s goal is to help each member prepare for a successful post-graduation transition into the job market. Our portfolio workshop will assist members in creating an enticing portfolio to showcase personal accomplishments, experience and talent. We will wrap up the spring semester with an internship workshop that will feature many local businesses interested in hiring our talented AMA members for summer internships.
AMA Tampa Bay
Our Chapter maintains a strong relationship with the AMA Tampa Bay, the “fastest growing Professional AMA Chapter in the country.” AMA Tampa Bay Professional Chapter is supportive of AMA-USF’s innovative ideas and talented members. Our chapters have built a mutually beneficial relationship by supporting each other’s goals and endeavors, which include monthly networking events, a literacy program, and both philanthropic and fundraising projects. AMA Tampa Bay’s monthly networking luncheons provide incredible opportunities for USF’s collegiate members to gain insight from marketing experts.
31st Annual International Collegiate Conference
This year, the AMA International Conference will be held March 26-28, 2009 at the Hilton Riverside Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana. Last year, USF-AMA ranked internationally among the top 16 collegiate chapters.
M.A.R.K. (Marketers Advocating for Reading and Knowledge)
Chapter members can contribute to the success of First Books of Tampa Bay, which provides new books to children, by promoting the collection of books and by volunteering time in after-school programs. The initiative is a joint community service project being launched to unite our Collegiate Chapter and the AMA Tampa Bay. Collegiate members will network with professionals while increasing awareness of First Books.
The Unsinkable Molly Brown Foundation
The Unsinkable Molly Brown Foundation supports art and music education programs in the local community by providing supplies, grants and scholarships. With the assistance of the AMA Foundation’s Community Service Grant, members will strategize and implement a non-profit marketing proposal to support the needs of the organization.
Stampede of Service
January 17th, 2009 8am – 2pm
Come and be a part of USF's largest community service event! Stampede of Service was created in January 2006 to truly celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Since then, it has grown in size and has become a USF tradition. Stampede of Service is a day completely devoted to participating in service, enjoy time with friends and make a difference in the community.
USF Dance Marathon
Dance Marathon is the largest student-run philanthropy event on college campuses. The USF Dance Marathon raises funds for the All Children’s Hospital. The AMA-USF Collegiate Chapter members will be encouraged to contribute to the fundraising goals of this event by effectively designing and executing a fundraising initiative that utilizes their knowledge of marketing and power of networking.
8th Annual Golf ScramBULL- February 26th, 2009
AMA-USF’s Annual Golf ScramBULL brings businesses together from around the Tampa Bay area to support our organization and participate in a competitive, but relaxing day of golf at MacDill Air Force Base’s Bay Palms Golf Complex. ScramBULL is AMA’s biggest fundraiser each year.
This year, AMA-USF expects to attract at least 72 golfers, which would place one foursome at each of the 18 holes. We hope to have a handful of local sports celebrities attend the tournament, including an 8-year old cancer survivor who is frequently called, the next Tiger Woods. Majority of our golfers live in Greater Tampa Bay and are members of the Carrollwood Area Business Association. This year's tournament will be very successful and has already been advertised in the College of Business' Alumni Newsletter.
Sponsorships are reasonably priced and give companies the opportunity to create awareness among high-functioning college students, as well as well-established business professionals from the Tampa Bay area. Golfers can purchase a foursome for $320, or $80 per player; please make checks payable to AMA-USF. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or would like to play in the tournament, please contact our VP Event Planning, Jessica Bloemsma via amaeventplanning@gmail.com
