( Show Runs: June 4th - June 22nd 2007 )
( Reception : Friday, June 8th, 2007 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM )
I find something vulnerable about a bare face. Once you remove the mask of makeup, metal and moose, you're left with the true mapping of an individual. I photograph women (usually 20's-30's) who have removed all clothing, makeup, piercing, jewelry and have pulled their hair back. This forces the viewer more closely exam the individual and also begins to create a uniformity among them. Through placement of certain faces, I'll attempt to create a blending effect from one portrait to the next. The images will be categorized according to physical features (hair color, eye color, shape, flesh tone, etc). These categories will then be arranged to either promote or negate the flow from image to image. I push the depth of field to emphasize the eyes, lips, bulb of the nose, tip of the chin, and some areas of the hair. These become the focal points of the images and further highlight the connection from portrait to portrait.
