Welcome to the Leadership House!

The Leadership House, located in Theta Hall, is home to 39 students, from first-year through seniors, who have a special interest in experientially advancing their personal leadership skills. This student-centered program, the first of its kind in the United States, is modeled after the book Teacher as Servant by Robert Greenleaf, a story about developing, honing and applying college students’ leadership skills.

Students in this house have a shared responsibility in helping themselves and others acquire leadership skills proven to be effective in the real world through orientation, weekly meetings, community service projects, speakers, attending leadership conferences, and public speaking. Most of the work done in the House is accomplished by committees of House members. Members also take turns on the Board of Servants, which plans the weekly meetings, service projects, and social events of the month. These elements, along with the students’ daily interaction with each other, combine to create a strong community within the Leadership House.
