Philanthropy

"Working towards the advancement of the community."

Since its establishment in 1975, Lambda Theta Alpha has maintained its commitment to the community.  Not only do Sisters perform community service, but we firmly believe in helping to nurture and foster the positive development of our surrounding community and its residents.  We aim to motivate others to contribute their time and service to the community as well.

Our sorority's national philanthropy is an outreach program called F.U.T.U.R.O., which translates to "Future" (Focused Urban Teens United and Ready for Opportunity).  Through the program, we reach out to the younger generation, mostly inner-city children.  We believe they are our future and we want to help them recognize their great potential, just as we have.

Every active chapter within Lambda Theta Alpha dedicates itself to a philanthropy of their choice, thereby resulting in a wide range of people positively impacted by our organization.  Beta Gamma Chapter's philanthropy is the University Area Community Development Corporation, Inc., located at 14013 N 22nd St. in Tampa.  We participate in various projects with the center throughout the year.

We are all dedicated and committed to helping our surrounding community thrive, and together, our goal becomes easier to attain.  We can achieve our highest potential when we help one another.  Our Founding Mothers did this over thirty years ago.  They were mostly Latina, but because they were interested in learning about other cultures, they became concerned with other communities beside their own.  For this reason, Lambda Theta Alpha is dedicated to not only one community, but many.
