2/11/08

1) Information Booth on the 13th – This event went well. We had a great time watching the USF Swing Club, who was set up across the patio from us. We had nearly a dozen more members sign up!

2) CAB/Earth Day-nothing to report as of 2/4/08

3) Social Events:
a. Moonlight Canoeing – As a group we decided to go on Friday, April 18th. It is $5 per student. As the event gets closer, we will solidify the details. We have to choice of going from 7-8:50, or from 9-10:50. More details can be found at: http://usfweb2.usf.edu/camprec/outdoor/moonlight.html
b. Pot Luck- perhaps prior to the canoe outing at Riverfront Park or Lettuce Lake Park.
c. Other? – Any other ideas are welcomed!

4) Fundraisers
a. Bake Sale?
b. Campus Wide Aluminum can drive? Thanks for the cans!!
c. Other ideas? Your homework is to brainstorm, call family members and poll your friends to help us find a feasible, free way to fundraise. Unfortunately we are very limited in our start-up capital. Basically we have none. This is our biggest problem.

5) T-shirts – Two design concepts are currently being looked at by our screen printer. He will get back to me with his proofs and we can then discuss the choices. Unfortunately, he had difficulties with the original “tree” design, and will have to tweak it in order to make it printable.

6) Volunteer Opportunities – Need to fill out form to get hours counted.
a. Salt Marsh Restoration on March 8th (9-12). Terra Ceia Bay Marsh Restoration project. This event is sponsored by the Tampa Bay Watch organization. You can visit their website (tampabaywatch.org) to get more information. You will get dirty and wet if you participate in this project.
i. We have only 10 available slots, and approximately 5 are filled. Let me know ASAP if you want to participate in this event.
b. We have many in the works; more details will appear via e-mails and in our meetings.

7) Community Outreach update – Melissa has heard back from only two schools. We will try to create an actual project proposal to present to schools to better give them and idea of what we can offer their class
