USF School of Library and Information Science Student Organizations

WELCOME!

usflibraryThere are three student organizations in the School of Library and Information Science at the University of South Florida, each aligned with a major professional organization: ALA (American Library Association), ASIST (American Society for Information Science & Technology) and SLA (Special Libraries Association). The three organizations meet and work together to coordinate student events and share ideas and information.

How to Become Involved

Because the three organizations share one web site and one Blackboard organization, membership in one of the organizations grants a student access to all three. To become a member email the webmaster Jarrod Jones (jjones19 AT mail.usf.edu). Once your membership is activated, you may access the Blackboard site by clicking on the "Organizations" tab. Membership is FREE.

All members are encouraged to participate in committees and special events and to consider becoming an officer. This is great preparatory experience for becoming a professional librarian, helps to round out your resume, and allows you the opportunity to work with your future professional colleagues outside of the classroom.
